Homage to Ballet Basel -
A night in honor of Heinz Spoerli
Basel 2023
Half a century of Spoerli ballet, that deserves to be celebrated! Experience a unique ballet evening in honor of Heinz Spoerli, the Basel "dance maker" who shaped the Swiss dance scene like no other for decades.
Fifty years after his call to the Basel Ballet, Spoerli's most beautiful and famous choreographies will enchant Basel on the big stage of the Musical Theater.
Performances include special highlights from his Midsummer Night's Dream, Swan Lake and Nocturnes, as well as the Goldberg Variations, his signature piece. Other inspiring choreographers provide the framework.
These masterpieces will be danced by international ballet greats from the most renowned companies in Europe with whom Spoerli has worked. Let yourself be carried away by the Étoiles of the Paris Opera, First Soloists of the Staatsballett Berlin, the Vienna State Opera and Principals from Het Nationale Ballet Amsterdam.
As a special guest, the talented students of the Ballet School Theater Basel will enchant you with Spoerli's "Chäs" - rustic-fresh with cult character.
Sandra Studer will accompany you through the evening with insights into the life of Heinz Spoerli.
Join us on June 3 to experience the unique creative work of this world-renowned Swiss choreographer.
